Building and Development Densification Project

- Create a Shady Acres map that shows pending development, property marked for teardowns, and existing development.
- Create a proactive vision of what we want Shady Acres to become.
- Invite certain builders to develop in our community
- Bring the ordinance of “Prevailing lot size” to Shady Acres
- Each block can establish an average lot size. Lot sizes cannot be subdivided when the majority of owners agree to this proposal.
- Exclusions are businesses and multi-family residences.
Neighborhood Security (Neighborhood Watch) Project

- Crime issues
- Set up a Neighborhood Citizen on Patrol. We need a minimum of twenty committed participants. It involves sixty hours per team, essentially three hours per member per month. You drive around and call the police when you see criminal mischief.
- Discuss establishing a Shady Acres constable program at an approximate cost of $250 per household if 250 residents and businesses sign up. Nothing is set for Shady Acres yet. Rates are set depending on hours, and days needed and amount of members
Pot hole, Graffiti and Street Light Project

Landscape & Gardening Project

- Establish the “Yard of the Month” program that includes a sign recognition and gift certificate
- Invite guest gardening speakers
- Encourage residents and builders to plant more shade trees. Give away plants on Arbor Day. Any tree in a city right of way is not allowed to be cut by a developer. Call 3-1-1.
- Beautifying the median on Ella
- Trash Pickup
- Installing Shady Acres neighborhood signs and reinstating the concrete street markings in Shady Acres
Social Project

- Throw community gatherings at local hangouts (such as Shady Acres Tavern and the impending Cedar Creek on W 19/Beall)
- Facilitate National Night Out
- Facilitate a Spring Picnic
Communications Network Project

- Split the neighborhood in zones and pass out paper flyers that communicate our next meeting/membership/speakers invited
- Get the word out about our meetings, website, and joining SACC
- Write the newsletter
- Seek more members to increase our financial balance
Park Project

- Improving Little Thicket Bayou Park (currently designated as a bird migratory park), White Oak Bayou Park and Wright-Bembry Park

Shady Acres Chamber of Commerce Project

Welcome Wagon Project

- Recognize new residents.
- Give new residents a welcome packet with a directory of local businesses, restaurants, parks, city services/hookups, and previous newsletter.
- Collect coupons and inserts from local businesses.
